How to Add a Prize

Prizes give you a way to make your communication stand out, increase participation and reward engagement. You can turn Prizes on or off whenever you would like. It's an especially helpful feature when launching Airbo for the first time or when you have an important priority you need to draw employee attention to.

Use this feature to do things like:

  • Drive interest and excitement during launch

  • Promote an important action employees need to take, like enrolling in benefits

  • Reward employees for participating

Summary of how to use the feature:

  1. Set-up a prize using the instructions below. You can pick any prize you would like to award (Airbo does not have a built-in store for prizes). 

  2. When a User logs-in, she'll see a pop-up indicating that there is a new prize.

  3. For every 20 points a user earns, she'll receive an entry into the prize drawing. She'll see a counter the keeps track of number of Prize entries.

  4. When the prize period is over, you pick a winner by pressing a button.

  5. Notify the winner via email.

  6. Finally, create a Tile to announce the winner to all employees, reinforcing engagement in the next prize you'll do.

How long should a prize period last?

We've seen prize periods as short as a week to as long as a quarter.

Most prize periods last about a month.

What should I give as a prize?

The Prizes feature is a raffle based on a combination of behavioral economics and game mechanics. Because it's a raffle, you are able to minimize your incentives spend, since you don't need to give each participant a reward. However, because Airbo includes game mechanics, participants still feel a sense of accomplishment even if they don't win.

A prize doesn't have to be expensive. Here are some common examples:

  • Free vendor gifts that you have on hand, like a mug or umbrella

  • $10 - $25 gift card

  • $25 - $30 local restaurant gift card

  • A few hours of PTO

  • Movie tickets & popcorn at local theatre

Details of how to use this feature:

1. Add a prize:

  1. Go to the Prizes Page

  2. On the left, select the start and end date of your prize period

  3. Add your prize. You can add as many prizes as you'd like by clicking "Add Another"

  4. Click Start

The next time your user logs in, she'll see a popup to notify her that a prize period has started.

2. To pick a prize winners:

  1. Once the prize period is over, go to the Prizes Page

  2. Select the number of winners you'd like to pick

  3. Click "Pick Winners!"

When you click "Pick Winners!" a list of winners will be automatically generated based on a random number generator. If a winner is not eligible, simply hover over the name and click "Re-Pick" or click the "Re-pick List" button to pick an entirely new list.

Finally, create a Tile to announce your winner(s) to all Users.
